Citation Appeals
Employees, students, vendors, contractors and visitors are responsible for exercising prudent judgment when using their motor and non-motorized vehicles on campus or loaning their vehicles/permits to others. Everyone is held accountable for looking at street and lot signs and markings while driving and parking. Therefore, appellants should carefully consider the basis for appealing a citation.
Appeals are usually reviewed and responded to within 4 weeks.
The following types of reasons are not acceptable grounds for appeal:
- Lack of knowledge of the regulations, for example, new to campus or have not reviewed regulations;
- Other vehicles were also parked improperly;
- Late to class or appointment; or
- Disagreement with or inability to pay the amount of the fines.
The following time restrictions apply:
- We are unable to accept appeals on citations beyond fourteen (14) calendar days from the citation date.
- After fourteen (14) calendar days from the citation date all citations will have a $20.00 late fee assessed. While the citation is pending appeal this late fee will not be assessed.
- If there were extenuating circumstances that prevented you from submitting the appeal in a timely manner, you may submit a request for written review by providing documentation of those circumstances.
Appeals requiring supporting documentation resulting from emergency or other extenuating circumstances must be appealed by mail with accident reports, medical records, auto repair bills, etc. attached
Please read the following information carefully!
- You cannot appeal citations with this form until 1:30am of the first University business day that follows the citation issue date. (Please note that citations may take up to 24 hours to show up in our system.)
- You will get an Appeal Number at the end of the online appeal process.
Please keep this number for future reference. - Citations that are appealed will be placed on hold. No late fees will accrue until 14 days after adjudication.
I have read and understand these restrictions.
